Bed & Breakfast (B&B) Frans Hals is located on a 3 minutes´ walk from the railway station Haarlem. From the B&B you walk to the historic center of Haarlem in less than 5 minutes. Besides that, in 20 minutes by train you are in the heart of Amsterdam, in 15 minutes by train in Leiden and in 10 minutes by train on the beaches of Zandvoort. Around the corner there is a beautiful park.
Old officer´s dwellingThe B&B is situated in an old officer´s dwelling from 1880, in a peaceful street. The owner bought this cozy apartment a few years ago and refurbished it step by step. Although the work is almost done, the garden and the veranda need a finishing touch. On request, in the summer months she rents out a large room – with use of the bathroom.
Basic, cozy and affordable In the comfortable room in the basement, where you also find the bathroom and toilet, stands a 2 persons sofa bed. There is also a small desk and a rocking chair. Important to know is that the owner loves ' vintage and basic living ' and has no television. It speaks for itself that you do have access to the free WiFi in this beautiful and authentic room.

Use of living room and veranda
Provided you are not home all day, you are welcome in the evening in the spacious kitchen and on the nice veranda. Although the owner has no television, she has a small collection of DVDs you can view on her vintage television.
Breakfast and more
On request, the owner will prepare you, with all her love, a breakfast at her kitchen table. Warm, cold, simple or a rich breakfast. If it´s sunny, you are welcome to have your breakfast on the veranda, with view to her, still to be developed, though lustrous green garden. Do you prefer having breakfast in a restaurant/bar? No problem, within a few minutes´ walk you will find several restaurant/bars.
Important to know
The owner speaks fluently English, Dutch and Spanish and has understanding from the German, language and Hebrew. She loves to inform you about all points of interest in the neighborhood. She works from home as a copywriter, in the company of her sweet calm white Shepherd (named Roemer) and her ever-sleeping cat (named Gato). So this is not the ideal accommodation for you, if and when you are allergic to cats and/or dogs. Are you afraid of dogs? Then Roemer is definitely the most ideal dog to overcome your fear, as he only howls like a true wolf when an ambulance with sirens passes by.

Just around the corner there is a beautiful park, where you can relax and read your book on the terrace of the museum ‘Het Dolhuys’, drink a cup of coffee or even have a lunch. The B&B is just a 5 minutes ‘walk from the center. There is always something to do in Haarlem, especially in the summer; a festival or a life performance in the many pubs or outside. The owner of the B&B can tell you all about it. Parking and bike rental You can park your car on the street in front of the house, using the owner ´s parking license. There is a store for bike rental at the railway station, just around the corner.
